Colonic Hydrotherapy
HOW IT FEELS

During the session, most clothing can be kept on and you will be draped, or a gown might be worn to ensure modesty.  Your dignity is always maintained.

While the client lies on his or her side, the therapist gently inserts a tubular instrument or prothescope approximately two inches into the rectum.  Warm filtered water is then slowly injected into the colon using natural gravity flow.  The effect is very soothing and calming.

The water moves in and around the contents of the colon and helps soften, loosen, rinse and hydrate them. The muscles respond to the water and to abdominal massage if it is needed.   Peristalsis, or the involuntary expansion and contraction of the intestinal muscles, is strengthened each time the muscles respond.  The key is to get the muscles working.

After a few minutes, the inflow of water is stopped in order that the water in the colon may be naturally expelled together with toxins and waste products.  This cycle of filling and expelling water and wastes from the colon is repeated for approximately 45 minutes or as long as necessary to thoroughly cleanse the colon.

Proper colonic hydrotherapy can be every effective in reaching the entire colon all the way up to the cecum, a pouch-like section at the beginning of the ascending colon.

A cleansing session usually lasts about 45 minutes to an hour and is administered by appointment.  The number of sessions a person needs depends on the condition and goal of the person.  Six sessions once a week for six weeks generally can create a good cleansing.
